TheCall founder Lou Engle issued an urgent prayer call last week asking Christians to pray in the run up to Islam on Capitol Hill, when some 50,000 Muslims are expected to gather in the nation's capital to pray for the soul of America.
Tonight Engle will join Shirley Dobson, chair of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, and Family Research Council President Tony Perkins in praying for the U.S. during a national teleconference beginning at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. In a statement posted on his ministry Web site, Engle also called on Christians to fast and pray Friday.
"We are calling the Church of America to fast and pray that Muslims would be moved by the Holy Spirit, convicted by the testimony of Christ, and even be visited by Jesus in dreams," Engle said. "We must pray that God would restrain the spiritual powers behind Islam and grant us the great awakening that we desperately need for America."
Engle's prayer call has been echoed by numerous ministry networks, which see the Muslim rally as a sign of an intentional "Islamization" of America.

 A $55 million debt that once threatened the survival of one of the nation's most prominent Pentecostal-charismatic universities has been eliminated.
Oral Roberts University (ORU) President Mark Rutland announced during a chapel service Wednesday that the school had wiped out its debt, thanking donors who participated in a yearlong debt-elimination campaign.

 Islamic kidnappers in Kirkuk last week dumped a Christian doctor in critical condition in front of a mosque after 29 days of torture and threats to him and his family.
Thanks to his 23-year-old daughter's negotiations with the terrorists, 55-year-old Sameer Gorgees Youssif was freed but with wounds, hematomas and bruises covering his body; throughout his captivity, he lay bound and gagged.

 Chynna Phillips' mother and father were members of the 1960s successful singing group The Mamas and the Papas, and she herself achieved fame as a member of the pop sensation Wilson Phillips. She went on to become a household name in the 1990s with such hits as "Hold On" and "You're in Love."
But today Phillips is singing for Jesus as part of the new duo Chynna & Vaughan, whose debut project, One Reason, released Tuesday.

 War. Genocide. Suicide bombings. Divorce. Rape. Sex slaves in cages. Toddlers in refugee camps. Orphans on streets. Debilitating handicaps. Premature deaths. Natural disasters. Car accidents. Mental illness. AIDS. Cancer.
Our planet is a ball of pain.
We’ve been “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Ps. 139:14, NKJV). Wonderfully, in that we have an exhilarating capacity for glory; fearfully, in that we have a terrifying capacity for pain.
Nothing is more horrific than suffering devoid of purpose. Hell is so hellish because its torment does nothing to make the sufferer a better person or produce anything positive. Tragically, millions today live in their own “hell on earth,” coping miserably under the crush of senseless suffering.
