How Singer Calvin Nowell Lost 215 Pounds

In December 2002, Calvin Nowell weighed 475 pounds. He knew that to make a change he had to start somewhere. Eight years later, he is a successful singer-songwriter and weighs 215 pounds less than he used to. His new book, Start Somewhere, describes how God used Nowell's simple decision to lose weight to turn his entire life around. New Man spoke with Nowell last week about his journey and what guys can learn from it.

New Man: How would you describe your lifestyle before the weight loss?

Nowell: I would say, "No boundaries," when it came to eating. I just ate what I wanted, when I wanted and how much I wanted. If people thought it was getting out of hand, I would hide it. I just didn't have any boundaries.
